All of the destinations visited with thombe SAFARI are selected because of their unspoilt natural beauty therefore it is only apparent that accommodation will be in tents. One of the most important parts of a thombe SAFARI is to get in touch with nature, like never before! This can only fully be brought to life when sleeping is done out in the wilderness, being surrounded with nature, accompanied by the tranquil night sounds and smells of the bush, with nothing but canvas between you and the African landscape. What more do you need on an African adventure?
The tents will mostly be “roof-top tents” which means the tents are located on the roof of the vehicle. This makes for very easy assembly and should you ever be so slightly afraid, you can now sleep with ease as the tents are elevated! On occasion additional accommodation such as chalets or guest houses may be used, normally to and from the destinations.
Campsites are all equipped with ablution facilities. Should we be staying in a more remote location portable facilities will be provided for your convenience. In some cases flushing toilets are available but some campsites only consist of a pit latrine. Tap water is available at selected campsites and when there is no hot water at the camps, it will be provided by thombe SAFARI. In the case of no tap water at a camp, all water supplies will be carried with you in the vehicle. Tap water is not always drinkable therefore bottled water will be provided for drinking and cooking purposes for the duration of your safari.
Due to the reasonable remoteness of certain camps, there are no shops or amenities in close proximity to the camps. In some cases we might pass by a shop on the way but it is highly recommended that all your additional items are to be packed before departure. Generally there is no cell phone coverage and no electricity at most of the camps. In the case of an emergency a satellite phone is available. An inverter is also available to charge your camera batteries, laptops etc. and it can accommodate any international plug.
