Have you travelled to great places and yet your photos never seem to portray the beauty or emotions that you experienced?
On a thombe SAFARI workshop you will be exposed to a variety of different photographic topics, covering all you need to know to get started or to expand your already existing knowledge.
You will receive a comprehensive set of notes that will include information on the following topics:
- Composition and visual communication
- Recognising and analysing light
- Understanding your camera functions
- Exposure, shutter, aperture, ISO and depth of field
- Post production and preparing your images for printing
- Choosing the right equipment
Another exciting feature included in the safari is our “Photographer in Action” workshop where you will observe and learn during a practical photo shoot by one of the photographers. Be part of the creation of another fine-art image that will be added to the imvelo ART collection as a limited fine-art print. Here you will understand and appreciate the efforts that nature or landscape photographers go through to produce exceptional images. These images, along with Joe & Jonelle’s portfolios can be viewed at www.imveloart.com
A typical day on safari will comprise of an early start with coffee and rusks, where after photographs will be taken on location. We will return to camp for a late breakfast, which is to be followed by casual tutoring or an informal discussion allowing you to ask all the photography questions you have. Practical photography will continue in the afternoon until after sunset, when the colours of the early evening sky have disappeared. The day will end with dinner around a campfire, accompanied by more photographic discussions.
Constructive criticism and evaluation will be done as needed and no question is out of bounds. Being in a small group means that you not only learn from the photographers but also from each other. The informal approach from thombe SAFARI will give you confidence to enhance your general photography and post production techniques, thus resulting in a dramatic overall improvement that you can implement in your future photography.
The locations visited allows for unlimited photographic opportunities. Especially since you have the freedom to walk around in these reserves as there are no dangerous animals, apart from the odd snake or scorpion. thombe SAFARI has designed their trips with the enthusiastic photographer in mind, who is willing to take the necessary steps to get the shot! This means that we will mostly be shooting when the quality and colours of the light are most desirable, making the average day a little longer then usual.
Joe & Jonelle’s intention is for every participant to take home their own striking photographs, now only with greater impact. Go back and share your photographs, showing the feelings that you felt while capturing the images that drew your attention. Be free. Be creative. Find a way to reflect your own personality through the skills and techniques that you have learned. If you enjoy travelling and photography then this is certainly the safari for you!
